Get ready to create unique artwork to take home! No experience is necessary—just bring a positive attitude and a willingness to learn. We provide all the materials you’ll need to design and make your own acrylic paintings, bamboo fans, printmaking, paper cutting artwork, and more. Our experienced instructors will guide you through the process, explain the meanings behind typical Chinese art elements, offering tips and inspiration to help your project turn out the way you want it. This is an opportunity to make great memories with your friends and family. Relax, socialize, and get creative. We can’t wait to see you there!

Lesson 1: The Twelve Zodiac Animals and Paper Cutting
Participants will learn about the origins and symbolism of the Chinese Zodiac animals while mastering basic paper-cutting techniques. Students will create their own zodiac paper cuts, experiencing this creative and traditional folk art.

Materials: Red paper, scissors, stapler etc.

Lesson 2: New Year Prints (Nianhua) History and Creation
This lesson covers the history and significance of Chinese New Year prints, particularly their role in traditional festivals. Participants will create their own Nianhua artworks.

Materials: paper, ink, rubber blocks, block cutters, spoons etc.

Lesson 3: Printmaking Ceramic patterns
Participants will get inspired by traditional ceramic designs and curve ceramic patterns on rubber blocks and print on a paper.

Materials: paper, ink, rubber blocks, block cutters, spoons etc.

Lesson4: Acrylic Painting of Xiangjiang Pavilion
In this class, participants will create an acrylic painting of Xiangjiang Pavilion, a classical Chinese architectural structure in Phalen Park, St Paul, while going on a short virtual tour of traditional Chinese garden architecture.

Materials: Canvas, acrylic paints, brushes, etc.

Lesson5: Bamboo Culture and Bamboo Craft Making
Students will explore the history and cultural significance of bamboo, while crafting traditional bamboo items like bamboo fans. 

Materials: Bamboo strips, weaving tools, ribbons, etc.

Lesson 6: Copper Foil Art Creation
This lesson introduces the techniques of Copper Foil Art, and participants will create their own Chinese-style Copper Foil artwork.                               

Materials: Copper Foil, glue, frames, brushes etc.
