New Non-Profit Launched to Support AAPI Veterans in Minnesota

Saint Paul, MN – Feb. 23, 2024 – The Minnesota AAPI Veterans Association (MNVA), a new 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, has been launched to provide support services and advocacy for Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) U.S. veterans, current active military members and Vietnam War SGU in Minnesota.

The MNVA was founded by Board President Yee Hang (Retired U.S. Army Col), Vice President Tou T Yang (Retired U.S. Army Lt. Col.), and Executive Director John B Yang (U.S. Air Force SSgt). They recognized the unique needs and challenges faced by AAPI veterans in the state.

AAPI veterans have served our country with honor and distinction, but they often face unique challenges when transitioning back to civilian life,” said [Name], president of MN AAPI Veterans. “We are committed to providing them with the resources and support they need to thrive, including employment assistance, housing, leadership training, mental health care, business, procurement, and more.”

MN AAPI Veterans will offer a variety of programs and services to meet the needs of AAPI veterans, including:

  • Employment assistance: The organization will help veterans connect with job training and placement opportunities, as well as provide resume writing and interview coaching.
  • Housing: MN AAPI Veterans will work to connect veterans with affordable housing options and provide assistance with rental applications and security deposits.
  • Leadership training: The organization will offer leadership development programs to help veterans develop the skills they need to succeed in their careers and communities.
  • Mental health care: MN AAPI Veterans will provide access to mental health care services to help veterans cope with the challenges of war and transition back to civilian life.

In addition to providing direct services, MN AAPI Veterans will also work to raise awareness of the unique needs of AAPI veterans and advocate for policies that support them.

“We are excited to launch MN AAPI Veterans and to start making a difference in the lives of AAPI veterans in Minnesota,” said John B Yang. “We believe that all veterans deserve to have the opportunity to succeed, and we are committed to helping them achieve their goals.”
