On April 20, 2025, the Chinese American Association of Minnesota (CAAM) hosted the 2024-2025 CAAM Stanley & Marvel Chong Scholarship Award Ceremony at the Kangle Adults Activity Center in Minnesota. The event celebrated 13 exceptional Chinese American high school graduates for their academic excellence, community service, and dedication to promoting Chinese culture. The evening began with a dinner at 5:30 PM, followed by the ceremony at 6:30 PM, led by CAAM President Dr. Ping Wang. In his opening remarks, Dr. Wang highlighted CAAM’s mission and thanked the Stanley & Marvel Chong Foundation for its longstanding support.
Keynote speaker Dr. Charles Lee, a former CAAM President and renowned scientist, reviewed the scholarship program’s history, noting its impact since 1985, with over $360,000 awarded to more than 110 students since 2018. He shared anecdotes about Stanley Chong, emphasizing his legacy as a community role model, and encouraged recipients to embrace curiosity and multiculturalism. The award presentation, led by CAAM directors, honored students from eight Minnesota high schools, who will attend prestigious universities like Stanford and Cornell, with scholarships ranging from $2,000 to $5,000.
Recipients, expressed gratitude for CAAM’s support and shared personal stories of cultural connection through dance, volunteering, and community events. The ceremony featured vibrant performances, such as a dance duet and a piano solo, showcasing Chinese artistic heritage. Past recipients of this scholarship shared college experiences, urging students to embrace their roots and seize new opportunities. CAAM Director Shi Peng closed the event, emphasizing gratitude and cultural pride, encouraging recipients to become future leaders. The ceremony underscored CAAM’s commitment to nurturing young talent and preserving Chinese heritage in America.
