As most of us complete our fall chores and prepare for winter, we subconsciously hold out hope for yet a few great days as we transition through Indian summer which traditionally doesn’t begin until after we experience the first frost.

Just as we usually experience the change of seasons, this year we will also elect a new president of the United States in what has become an historic election despite political viewpoints or party affiliation and regardless of who wins. The election will be precedent-setting so be sure to exercise your right and vote.

As a follow up to an article that we featured last month on Amy Xu qualifying for the IronmanTriathlon, we congratulate her on finishing the race and you can read ourexclusive interview with her on this extraordinary experience.

Although the Beijing Olympics is now but a memory, we have included an article that provides us a perspective through the eyes of a journalist as recounted throughthe presentation Jay Weiner delivered at a recent UCBC meeting.  Also, while we are all painfully affected bythe turmoil now being felt in the financial condition of the U.S. economy, China is not immune to this situation.

While the assimilation of most immigrants to the United States is an issue that all ethnic groups deal with, the American born Chinese (ABC) perhaps face more of adilemma than do most other groups.  This topic is discussed in an article  and you are strongly encouraged to submit your experiences growing up as an ABC. Doing so will help connect ABCs in the larger Chinese community in theTwin Cities.  Sharing such an experiencethis month is our staff writer, Albert Leung, in his article.

Also welcome are contributions from the parents of an ABC, families that have adopted a Chinese child or others that have some insight from observing or dealing with American-born Chinese individuals in some relationship or official capacity.  With your input, we will develop a meaningful dialogue on this topic.
